Youth Center " OPEN SPACE "
In the Union of Women's Organizations of the Republic of Macedonia is functioning Youth Center " OPEN SPACE ".
The purpose of this center a contribution for the public awareness of the young population and their integration in the community for building of positive initiatives and relations for their self and the others . The youth center is enriched with different activities which are providing for the youth their spare time to use successfully, to be informed, to develop their creativity and inventively, their ability for critical thinking and empowerment of their self- confidence, as well as an opportunity to comprehend their position and role in the society .
Specific aims:
• Help and support for the youth in recognition and overcoming of the difficulties which are actual in the period of adolescence;
• Stimulation and development of cognitive skills, creativity and inventiveness;
• Empowerment of the self- confidence of the youth;
• The contact establishment, changing of experiences and new initiatives for the youth collaboration region.
Target group:
Young people on the age of 14 – 27 years with different ethnicity, religion and social- economic
Activities:
• SOS- phone line and consultative center for youth;
• Organization of trainings and experienced workshops;
• Summer school.
Trainings and experienced workshops
In the frames of the trainings and experienced workshops, the young people can mutually be educated, accompanied, freely to dictate the working tempo with obtrusion of the interested topics for consideration and discussion.
Trainings types :
• Democracy and human rights;
• Gender relations and development;
• NGO, volunteerism and public relations;
• Communicational skills;
• Violence;
• Economy and employment;
• Illegal trafficking with humans;
• Adolescent pregnancy and prevention from sexual transferable diseases.
Experienced workshops - for psycho- social support of the youth and learning of different skills:
- Social;
- Cognitive;
- Skills for emotional dealings.
Summer school
Plan is to be organized ten days stay for young people from the midland of the Republic of. Macedonia and the neighboring countries, with the aim the youth to associate, to exchange the experiences, actively and creatively to use their spare time. The summary of the summer school is going to be with educational, informal and amusing character.
SOS- phone
Youth who has a need to be listened and understood through the conversation to tell about their problems from the daily life. They can call every working day in the period of 9.00 a.m.- 5.00 p.m.
